Battery health is very good. The 80 minute TDK disc included in the sale was recorded using power from the LIP-8 battery, and following this the battery indicator showed 50% charge remaining. See photo.

Released in 1997, the Sony MZ-R50 has both playback and recording functionality.
There are three colour variations; silver, blue, and orange. The orange variation was only sold in Japan.
It weighs 190 grams without a battery or disc installed.
It has a 3.5 mm headphone jack and 3.5mm LINE OUT jack for audio output.
Due to its age it does not support MDLP.
