Home Menu Navigation
While the top level menu will differ between models, many of the icons are commonly shared between devices. In general, the earlier models will have fewer icons than the later models.
The example above is from a Sony NW-S644.
1) Video playback
If there are video files on the device this will jump straight to the video that was last accessed.
2) FM radio
The device uses the wire in the earphone/headphone cable as an antenna. Note that the FM band is either 76.0~90.0 MHz or 76.0~95.0 MHz.
3) Recording
It’s possible to record directly to the device using a WMC-NWR1 cable.

9) Music playback

Using the Music Menu
After selecting the Music icon, the device will display a list of search options:
- All Music
- Album
- Artist
- Genre
- Year of Release
- Playlist Folder
- Recorded Tracks
The results will be different depending on the data currently stored on the device, but in general selecting any of these options will then take you to another list based on the option selected. The only exceptions to this are Playlist and Recorded Tracks. Playlists cannot be created on the device itself.
Select the search option you want, then navigate to the track using the navigation buttons. Tracks with English titles will remain in English when added to the device. If there are tracks with Japanese language titles stored on the device then these will also be listed in phonetic order in Japanese. Press the Play button to play the selected track.
